BANDANAS probably have more uses, in the outdoors, than any other piece of gear. A BANDANA makes a fantastic backcountry pot holder, an emergency bandage, or a cool headband. YOU CAN USE A BANDANA . . . . . . . .

1. As a coffee filter.
2. Stuff 20 or more Bandanas loosely into a stuff sack and you've got nice pillow.
3. Make a sling for a hurt arm.
4. To polish your mountain bike.
5. To check the wind direction.
6. As a towel or wash cloth.
7. As a blindfold for "playing pin the tail" on the bear.
8. As a dust/wind mask, like the cowboys in the old west.
9. Bandanas make great placemats on a picnic table.
10. As a potholder for handling hot pots and pans.
11. A backpacking strainer for pasta.
12. Use as a neckerchief or scarf.
13. To pre-filter water.
14. Wear as a headband.
15. Soak in water, wrap around your neck and the evaporation keeps you cool.
16. Emergency diaper.
17. To start a campfire, when no paper is available.
18. To gather wild blueberries in.
19. To secure a splint on a broken arm or leg.

72. I use my Bandana to keep my visor from flying off my head when the wind blows or while riding my bike.
73. To make a sling to throw things fast and far (e.g. tennis balls for dogs, rocks at racoons.) Find a long stick with a Y-shaped end. Tie a Bandana in a pouch across the Y and sling away.
74. Moisten it and wrap leftover pancakes, biscuits, etc. in it, to keep from going stale during the day or night.
75. Wrap bacon, salt pork, etc. after cooking to degrease.
76. To plug your nostrils after being sprayed by a skunk.
77. As a patch for tired pants.
